Picture
Not Broken Enough to Need Fixing
Damn It All Up
The Original Sketch
I built it upside down at first so I would have a flat plane to build the mountains off of
Flipped right side up (With help from multiple people)
Planning out where mountains will go
Smoothing out all the unwanted bumps before applying underglaze
So much black underglaze
The first layer of resin after the piece was bisqued and glazed
More resin
And just a little bit more resin for the river
A Long Way Down
The original sketch
I built this one upside down so I would be able to easily clean up the underside
Building up the bottom
Almost filled in
Flipped right side up
Tiny houses to cover the top
Sometimes the only way to carve is laying on the table
Sgraffito on the inside of the chasm
Fresh out of the glaze kiln
Pouring a thin layer of resin inside the chasm with a larger Tupperware acting as a catch tray
I'll Deal With It When I Get There
The original sketch
Placing the tree top on the trunks, it was a balancing act
texture, texture, texture
making a mold for the resin base
Attempting to balance the piece above the mold so that it doesn't touch the bottom
I poured thin layers so that I could "float" objects in the resin
Breaking away the ceramic mold to free the resin
All finished
Latibule (Hide Away)
The original sketch
Fitting the house into the base
Sgraffito trees and vines
Carving pine trees from hollow cones
fitting everything together
I built everything separate so glazing would be easier, it only made assembly more difficult
Gluing the house down
So much epoxy
Shaky Foundations
The original sketch
Adjusting proportions
Carving in details and adding the bulb
Starting to add planks to the base
Building up higher and higher
Adding copper nails with acrylic paint
It stands!
Spring Flood
The original sketch and the piece before applying underglaze
Bright underglaze colors
Clear glaze
Placing the mountains and houses into the mold for resin
Pouring resin over the edge to start forming the waterfall
Breaking off the mold
What A Lovely Facade
Starting to carve in details
Sgraffito windows
Applying a wash of underglaze to the siding
Rusty red roof with red iron oxide
Watching You
Throwing and trimming lighthouses on the wheel
So many lighthouses
Building the base for the lighthouses
Arranging the lighthouses
Applying the green moss glaze
Epoxying it all together
Pouring resin inside
House Mugs
Tiny houses
Due to an abundance of leftover tiny houses from "A Long Way Down"...
...And multiple footless mugs, I Started making house mugs
Some of them are a little off balance before they're fired
Drying out for the bisque firing
Waxing the houses to keep glaze off of them
The first of the house mugs
Bending over Backwards
The original sketch
Building the base of the trunk
Supporting the weight of the bend and carving in details
Closing off the tree top and adding texture
Bright spring colors
Organizing the composition
Copper luster on the moss

The Island's Still Floating
Finished form ready for carving
Just starting to carve
Pouring resin into the mold
Fresh out of the mold!
Some dust got on the surface before the resin was fully cured which meant I had to sand it out
New resin pourred over top of the sanded surface made it look like it was wet and dripping

Above & Below
I started out with slabs for the side that rests against the wall
Creating interior supports
Starting to add underglaze to the bottom while finishing the top
Beginnings of the sgraffito design
Almost done and ready to start drying out
Bisqued and glazed
